It was through Instagram's location feature that I first learned of Bono. Tempted by the shots I had seen, I just had to stop by when I visited Makati last week.
Bono Artisanal Gelato, dubbed as "the best gelato in the PH", can be located near the bridgeway connecting Glorietta and SM Makati. Bright and definitely attention-grabbing with their colored "infographic" wall, it's impossible to miss.

Bono changes its menu daily, and they also offer Day End discounts. To know which flavors are available, visit their Facebook page.
On the day of my visit, a scoop of Red Velvet only cost Php 65. Taking advantage of the discount, I ordered some Red Velvet and a scoop of one of their best-sellers, Speculoos (Belgian Cookie Butter).
The gelato's texture was very impressive--much thicker than other gelatos in the Metro. They also don't scrimp on ingredients, as my single scoop of Speculoos had many swirls of cookie butter infused in it. The Red Velvet also contained many cream cheese chunks. I found it a bit too red, although Bono boasts that it does not use any artificial flavors/coloring. The cup also came with a crispy waffle, providing texture in contrast to the gelato's creaminess.
Their cute wall is a huge infographic about their production process and has facts on gelato, too. (It contains less butterfat than ice cream!)
They also have a flatscreen TV with a looped video of how their gelato is made. Apparently, they use a Pozzetto Cabinet to ensure product quality (to avoid having too much air mixed in and to keep temperature constant throughout the churning process).
They also offer low sugar options for diabetics and those who are looking for "less deadly" desserts.
We hope they open a store in the North soon!
